Agedis Experience

Develop a Windows fleet at the pace of users

A migration campaign involved individual planning, document protection and monitoring of the components of the posts already processed, with interventions still to be continued.

Deployment carried out on part of the park and monitoring by management

Organize the passage position by position

To prepare for the move to Windows 11, the company and the Agedis team have built a schedule per user. The machines were identified with their eligibility status and their planned slot. Some still required a compatibility check. This organization made it possible to bring together technical needs and people's availability: a workstation had to remain accessible on the scheduled day, while limiting disruption to its user's work.

Prepare documents before change

During the campaign, difficulties encountered with certain equipment led the technician to remind people of the precautions to take for local files. Users were asked to keep a copy of their important documents in network spaces before switching. This reminder particularly concerned data present on the desk or in the station's personal files. The evolution of the system had to be accompanied by concrete attention to where the documents were kept.

Follow machines actually migrated

The management reports then detailed the SSDs present on the stations already migrated. They distinguished between new components and those that had been installed during a previous intervention. The list was completed over time, while the users remaining to be treated were identified separately. This material monitoring makes it possible to maintain a precise view of the progress and to bring technical actions closer to their administrative processing, without confusing a planned component with an installed component.

Maintain a realistic view of progress

The campaign remained progressive: several posts had been processed, others still required passage, and a question of equipment allocation remained to be clarified. This way of monitoring the project provides useful benchmarks for park managers. The migration of a system is built with the compatibility of the equipment, the software used, the data to be kept and the constraints of the team. Agedis supports these different dimensions to prepare each stage and continue adjustments throughout the management.
