Set up a Microsoft backup and organize its monitoring

The team prepared a remote intervention with managers spread across several sites, then confirmed the completion of the backup of a tenant Microsoft.

Backup done; recurrence to be specified

Preparing the environment and the interlocutors

The project combined the protection of workstations and the safeguarding of the Microsoft environment used by the company. Managers from two sites had to be able to participate in the same meeting remotely. Before the intervention, it was therefore necessary to organize the availability of people and equipment, but also to specify the elements necessary for the technical team. This preparation was part of the job: a hosted service and the positions that access it do not always follow each other from a single location.

Finding a realistic niche

The preparation gave rise to several exchanges of availability and a postponement of appointments. The sales administration coordinated the new slot with the customer, while the positions concerned had to be made accessible for the planned protection component. The organization chosen combined videoconferencing and remote intervention. These exchanges make it possible to prepare the conditions for the technical transition, taking into account the activity of those responsible and the distribution of teams.

Going from preparation to a completed copy

After this phase, the technician confirmed to the customer that the tenant backup had been carried out. This passage constitutes a concrete stage of the project: a copy has been made, beyond the choice of the solution or the preparation of the meeting. The backup is part of the support of the company's Microsoft tools. It must remain linked to the uses concerned and the data to be protected, with clearly defined operating methods for the future.

Clarifying the life of the service

The customer then asked to confirm the backup recurrence. This question usefully distinguishes a first copy of its organization over time. Frequency, conservation and restoration possibilities are defined according to the service chosen and the needs of the company. Agedis discusses these topics with the client. When a project requires a copy in an external environment, Cloudlab can complete the reflection on the data center aspect; the scope of systems and backup remains to be clarified with Agedis.
